Mandai Wildlife Group is the steward of Mandai Wildlife Reserve, a unique wildlife and nature destination in Singapore that is home to world-renown wildlife parks which connect visitors to the fascinating world of wildlife. The Group is driving an exciting rejuvenation plan at Mandai Wildlife Reserve, adjacent to Singapore’s Central Catchment Nature Reserve, that will integrate five wildlife parks with distinctive nature-based experiences, green public spaces and an eco-friendly resort.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform core histopathology workflows, including tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, and staining (H&E and selected special stains)
Assist pathologists in slide preparation and ensure accuracy and consistency for case review
Handle, receive, and process laboratory specimens while ensuring proper documentation, traceability, and turnaround compliance
Assist in post-mortem sample collection, documentation, and registration
Provide necropsy assistance, including tissue grossing and sample preparation
Prepare, label, and manage formalin pots, sample containers, and slides to ensure proper identification and traceability
Support field sample collection logistics when required
Maintain histopathology equipment and coordinate servicing and maintenance with vendors to ensure operational readiness
Maintain and ensure adequate inventory levels of histopathology consumables, including stock monitoring and preparation of requisitions
Provide cross-support in other diagnostic areas when required and appropriately trained (e.g. clinical pathology, microbiology, molecular diagnostics)
Assist in validation of laboratory techniques and support research or pilot studies where applicable
Support training of interns, and junior staff once competency is achieved
Ensure all laboratory work is conducted in accordance with SOPs, biosafety guidelines, and quality standards Liaise effectively with internal teams and support coordination of laboratory workflows
Maintain flexibility to support urgent or surge workloads across multiple diagnostic units
Job Requirements:
Diploma or Degree in Veterinary Technology, Biomedical Science, or a related field
Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in a diagnostic or laboratory setting (Fresh graduates with relevant training may be considered for junior-level roles)
Strong hands-on technical skills in histopathology; exposure to other diagnostic disciplines is an advantage
Good understanding of laboratory workflows, documentation, and quality practices
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
Meticulous, organised, and able to maintain accuracy in a fast-paced setting
Willingness to support weekend or after-hours work when required
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
